The first door to be restored is placed on the hinges. The jamb was reinforced with new planks of Douglas fir on the jamb - one new facia board on the front and two planks on the back side of the double studs. The back side planks also tie into the double top plate above. The door was full of holes from attempts by previous owners to through-bolt the old hinges. The back side of the door was reinforced with a 1x10 plank of pine screwed to the old door with 18+ large wood screws to tie all three hinges together and connect with the front face boards. Three more 1x8 planks of pine will be added horizontally to the back side to reinforce the door corners and provide a secure backing for bolting hardware and latches.
